Here are tips to help make sure you are making the most of your earnings. For example, you can use various emails and login names, but ALWAYS sign up with your real name and payment information!
These sites pay you to view advertisements. Each view is usually worth $0.005-0.001. Enough to make maybe $5-$10/month in clicks on your own, but WITH REFERRALS you can end up earning much more. Multiply your earnings by however many programs you are in, and you can start to get a reasonable amount of money per day.
These sites pay you to fill out surveys, sign up for trials/free programs, and complete offers (offers can include buying things, which you don't have to do). There are often many offers that are totally free. However, be aware that "free trials" will only be free so long as you cancel the trial offer before it ends. Sometimes, you will be required to call or send back product to cancel your trial. If you are good at keeping track of trial dates, you certainly can earn decent money (and prizes) by using these "free" offers. I suggest trying surveys and free sign-ups first. Then, once you have a bit more experience, you can start on the "free trials".
Getting referrals isn't really that hard. The trick is to be honest and helpful. DON'T lie about your programs or earnings! Promoting your program via your own site is a good idea, but you don't have to. You can just use traffic exchanges to promote your program's referral page. There are also "downline builders" (your "downline" is your referrals, as a group), where you can promote multiple programs on one page. However, you'll likely eventually grow to the point where you'll want your own web page. Some sites offer free web page hosting. Also, I will host your site if you earn me at least $5/month and contact me. Once you have a site (or referral link page), you'll need to promote it. This is where traffic exchanges come in. There you view ads, and have your ads viewed in turn. These can be very effective, although manual are far more effective than auto! With manual, you click a button or image after each site view. This ensures people are actually viewing the site. On auto traffic exchanges, there's no such check. So, manual or dual exchanges are best!
